Almost 4,000 students are enrolled in programs of studies focusing on applied knowledge and innovation at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The faculties include computer science, mechanical engineering, economics, tourism, social sciences, and cultural management. The research and development activities play a vital role in shaping the university`s future profile and supporting regional economic growth. In order to counter the shortage of qualified employees, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences provides together with more than 100 cooperating enterprises and training institutions the possibility of combining university studies with vocational training.

The Neisse University represents a network of co-operation between
· the Technical University of Liberec,
· the Wroclaw University of Technology and
· the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz
which is based on joint study courses.
The present three-national project is a step forward towards the creation of a joint European sector of higher education. In its nature, it is unique in Europe. By their study at these three institutions, the students are being prepared in an excellent way for the expanding EU labour market.

International graduate school Zittau
The region has an additional center for innovation with the International Graduate School (IHI) Zittau which teaches and practices cosmopolitanism. Students from eleven countries familiarize themselves, for example, with the languages and cultures of the Euroregion Neisse and participate in at least a one semester internship at a renowned company abroad.

The eight vocational institutions in the region provide training and education in the most diverse professional fields such as technology, business, and social sciences. Starting already at the secondary level Gymnasium, it is possible to focus on such future-oriented subjects as aeronautics and aerospace technology.
