Its geographic location in the border triangle makes Görlitz an excellent choice for trips into the regions of Silesia and Bohemia in the neighbouring countries, Poland and the Czech Republic.
There are the picturesque mountain ranges of the Jizera Mountains and the KrkonoÅ¡e ("Giant Mountains") for example. On clear days, the 1602 metre Snĕžka is visible from Görlitz - it is the highest peak in the KrkonoÅ¡e`s fabled realm of mountain spirit "Rübezahl". Another popular destination for hiking enthusiasts is the source of the BÃÂlé Labe, or White Elbe at an elevation of almost 1400 metres in the mountains off Ã…Â pindlerùv Mlýn in the Czech Republic. In winter, the region attracts countless skiing fans with its excellent conditions for winter sports.
The Kotlina Jeleniogórska, the Hirschberg Valley at the foot of the Giant Mountains in Poland is a real paradise for fans of palaces and ancient castles.
Wroclaw, the historice capital of Lower Silesia and
Prague, the Golden City, are only about two hours away, too.
